BLING THINGS

A little embellishment goes a long way. I can't help myself when it comes to sparkly/shiny/bling things {they are just so pretty}. I will always use it for something. This is a vintage silk skirt I found that I'm repurposing {I think the new word for it is upcycling} for a new + exciting project {that I hope to share soon}! Happy Monday.

FLOWER POWER

The 4th of July celebration + weekend was great {lots of food + food}. I always love when grocery stores create flower bouquets that go with the holiday at hand. Rouses had some pretty red, white + blue bunches. So I grabbed them + made a little flower wreath for my hair to get into the holiday spirit. Very easy to make, takes about 15 mins. All you need is some wire + scissors {+ flowers of course}. Cut flowers with a 2-3 in stem piece, wire 2 flowers together, take two more + slide them further down on the stems from the first 2, then wire those together. Keep going + eventually you will create a long wired rope of flowers, attach the ends + voila a masterpiece of flowers to adorn your head. Happy Monday!

RIVER + SHOES

Love walking along the river in New Orleans. It's warm + smells like rain. You can't quite get to the edge due to the rocks holding the bank in tact. BUT you can stand on the wooden beams that line the walkway. You look out + then down at what lays around your feet, I don't mind the bits of trash {the blue bag is vibrant + pops out}. Next, I look at my sandals, I love these sandals {can't take a picture like this + not talk about your shoes}. Gap the past 2 years has come out with a great line of sandals {simple, clean, sophisticated}. These are from last years collection, I wear them with everything. This summer they have quite a few pairs I just might need for my closet, my favs 1 // 2 // 3 . TGIF + rain rain go away!

NEW ORLEANS SUMMER

New Orleans summer {phew} it's a warm one, BUT I do love it. One summer accessory everyone here is in need of is a good hat. I've been looking around + I'm ready to change it up from my straw Fedora. I've landed on a wide brim straw hat from Nola Couture. It's simple + pretty + gets the job done {along with a silk sash}. So check them out {+ protect your head from our southern sun}. I'm so excited to share with you Fifth & Mae. They are a fun jewelry + accessories shop. THE NEW BLACK

Most people know I'm a huge fan of the color black. It is not uncommon to see me dressed in all black, BUT as of the past year{ish} something else has creeped into my obsession pool, STRIPES. They are classic + come in many colors {including black}. Maybe stripes are the new black {even though they could never replace my love for black}. TRIDE + TRUE

These sandals have been + are my tried + true spring + summer shoes. They literally go with everything + are extremely comfortable + form to your foot. Birkenstocks have been around for a good bit + I've had a pair every year since I was 14 years old. I adore them. This particular pair has traveled Europe with me, been to multiple beaches, gone on hiking + camping, powered through Mardi Gras + Jazz Fest {I could go on + on}. These are the Kairo Woven Flat Sandal, I'm thinking about getting a pair of Gizeh Sandals for the summer as well {we will see}. TGIF + Happy Good Friday + have a wonderful Easter!

Although, it does not feel like it {this weather is depressing} it is shorts season! Nothing like a good pair of shorts. Weekend, running, festivals, camping, beach, vacation {I could go on + on}, you always need a good pair of shorts. Can not wait for this weather to lift + let my legs breath + catch some sun {Lord knows they need it, my mother sometimes refers to me as ghost, yikes}. Some of my favorites are below. A LITTLE FEATHER

I sat down this morning to a small package on my desk {I love getting mail, it makes me giddy}. One of my sweet friends {+ a college roommate} has started making jewelry + sent me a bracelet. I absolutely love it {the little feather is my favorite part}. She always had good taste in things {fashion, interiors, colors, etc} so I knew it would be good. She is a New Orleans native who transplanted to Vail, CO {we all miss her, BUT we know she is tres happy}. So thank you dear friend for this, it is already on my wrist. THE PERKS OF DOWNTOWN

Oh the perks of being a downtowner {specifically the CBD in New Orleans}. I enjoy working downtown in New Orleans, there is lots to do { + it makes my grandfather proud, as he is a retired CBDer}. The commute to + from downtown is not that great I have to admit {it's a little tricky} BUT once you get here it's fine. So here is a list of a few of my favorite things about downtown. Today is beautiful {+ warming up woohoo}, time to pull out the shades. Unfortunately, I have lost my favorite pair + need new ones.  There are all kinds of shapes + styles out there {makes it very hard to decide}. Which shapes do you like the best + fit your face well? I've been doing research {which I guess is also called shopping, but research sounds better}. I have picked out my top three.

THE BIG PICTURE

I had an amazing weekend {full of running around here + there}. One of my best friends got married {congrats Kate + Matt}. I was honored to stand in their wedding + share this step into the future with them. Everything {+ I mean everything} was to the T perfect. The flowers, our pearl necklaces {thanks Kate}, our hair, the people, the music, the dancing, the food {I could go on and on}. Even though at times weddings + their parties can seem a bit hectic, it is all worth it {especially to spend time with those you love so dear}. All the things you worry about {walking slow, hair, + makeup} seem to melt away as you stand there watching two of your friends commit themselves to each other {because that moment is so humbling + inspiring}. So when you find yourself getting wrapped up in details, remember to step back + focus on the big picture, LOVE. Happy Monday!

ODE TO CONVERSE

It is one of those days {+ it's Friday}. You wake up + just try to throw something on, then just lace up the Converses + go with it. I heart my gray Converses, they literally go with everything + are comfy. These sneakers also have made it through decades of fashion + are still going strong {we call this being classic, right}. I have been eyeing these black leather ones as well {ere go my black obsession, of course}. TGIF + GSE for holidays!

EYE LOVE EYES

I am loving this new trend of eye fashion that collections like Kenzo // Comme des Garcons // Bengt have been rocking lately. The eye was my main go to doodle when I was younger {+ bored in class}. Something about it fascinated me, I still to this day have doodled eyes on my work notes + in sketch books etc. I have been seeing it pop up on t-shirts, sweatshirts + leggings this season {super inspiring}.

So very very excited to announce my newest collaboration with domino via Pinterest!

domino was {+ still is} my favorite magazine, + they are back in full swing + I'm beaming {+ jumping up + down like a little girl}. When they first started in 2005 I bought every issue + the stack is in my house to this day {+ I still read them}. They have such great taste, everything from interiors to art to entertaining {so much fun}. You can pick up their magazine {in New Orleans} at Barnes + Noble {go get it, you'll be drooling}.
