HAPPY MONDAY......WAIT TUESDAY

So, I walked into the office this morning and greeted everyone with "Happy Monday". They looked at me and said "Dude it's Tuesday", duh. BUT on Monday for the holiday, 2 of my friends and I wandered around the French Quater & Bywater area. I always forget how fun these areas are to get lost in, it's a tourist in your own city type of feeling, and it's extremely inspiring. I snapped a few pictures of my favorite doors we passed. This one was my favorite, the color palette was bright & gawking but wonderful. You can check out the rest of the doors here on my Instagram. We also wandered into Booty's Street Food, what an amazing surprise! Go there eat & drink & be merry, it's fabulous. So, correction HAPPY TUESDAY!

All photographs are taken with an iphone 4 + VSCOcam app.

HAPPY FRIDAY

TGIF! Hope everyone has had a wonderful Friday, go enjoy some crawfish and beer! I've just gotten into Saint Arnold's Fancy Lawnmower beer. It's slightly sweet and not too heavy. A perfect pair with crawfish & steak, which my amazing mother is cooking tonight. Hallelujah!

VERSUS: HATS

Any excuse to wear a hat is a good one, we have realized we have hats we love, BUT do not wear. Maybe the occasion doesn't present itself, maybe we are a little self consicous, or maybe we live in the wrong country. Whatever the reason may be, we are vowing to try and be more spontaneous with our hat wearing. So with that being said here are our two favorites. Jess got her barret from Urban Outfitters a 100 years ago, pre a europe trip as a reminder of things to come. My hat is one I inherited from my grandfather. I fondly remember him wearing his hat with a Lacoste shirt and Brooks Brother's pants, a southern uniform, cigar and all. So, be adventurous wear a hat!

A SKETCH FROM RENE

So, my favorite pin of the week is a sketch by the notorious René Gruau. He is a wonderful artist who started his fashion illustration career in 1924 in Paris. I love this sketch entitled, Blue Mask, it reminds me of New Orleans. It's fun and energetic, happy Friday everyone!

VERSUS: SHOES

These are Jess and my current pick for shoes. She is still loving winter, and I am ready for spring. Can you tell? Jess's booties are from Anthropologie. My heeled sandals are from one of my favorite designer's Tahari. So enjoy both winter & spring!

THE WASHINGTON BAR

So, on top of having fun doing some liquor sketches, I wanted to share what we keep on hand at my house in the bar! It is a little bit of everything, which is what our grandparents generation does, to make sure they can provide for any guest! It is the most polite thing to do, I think. First off, I am a tried and true vodka girl, these days I've been into Rain, an organic vodka, it's light, refreshing, and won't break the bank! Secondly, if you want something sweeter, there is Firefly. A sweet tea infused vodka, I like the skinny version it has less sugar but still the same punch, mix with water and lemon and you are golden. Next, for my dear roommate who loves gin, we keep New Amsterdam, the bottle is so sleek very art deco. For the occasional night out or house party, pass around the Fireball, take a swig and have fun. Then for dinners and some relaxing after work couch time, my go to is Cupcake Cabernet Sauvignon. Lastly, there is always some Pellegrino around, whether you just want a good glass of soda water or you are mixing a drink, it is always good! Cheers to The Washington Bar!

GEOMETRIC

Just drawing some pretty pastel triangles. Contrast between hard shapes and soft colors. Voila.
